Hand gestures came naturally for both of us as we mimed steering and breaking. The brightly colored and cleanly rendered illustrations add greatly to the total experience of enjoying this book with a child. Why hasn't Truck Song been reprinted? It is a gem and I would have bought several copies for youngsters I know, now that my son is in his early thirties, but it's out of print and the hard cover copies are very overpriced. The paperbacks show the constant thumbing and turning of pages we enjoyed each time we sat down together to read, so these books make slightly damaged, dog-eared, taped together, grimy gifts, but I don't care. I still give them away. The spirit of the book, the pictures and text still shine through like the sun on a cloudless day.

Love Diane Siebart books. We started with Mojave and Sierra with the beautiful pics, but my 1 and 3 year olds liked the shorter text and truck theme for this book. The pictures are simple and appealing to my kids and the rhyming is easy.

My son adores the book but the quality of the book was misleading. I bought it used and it was listed as "like new." The cover is barely readable and torn. Some of the inside pages have been drawn on. Highly recommend the book but not the seller.

When my son was about 4, he memorized "Truck Song," by Diane Seibert. For sentimental reasons I wanted to replace the book, but he also used it for a college project!!Thanks Amazon!!

Our children love this whole series of books by Diane Siebert. They have a really neat rhyme scheme and cool illustrations. I recommend Train Song & Plane Song too.

My son, my wife, and I have all enjoyed this book greatly. The pictures are inviting and clean-looking, which is great for a toddler (many books for this age group seem visually cluttered), yet they include sufficient detail to reward close looking. The words, or lyrics, are quite fun to read and hear, making this book at times a welcome relief from the truck picture books with no plot (yes, my son is very interested in trucks!)--and from the many books for this age group that use oversimplified language. The words here are catchy but not sing-songy.

My boys have loved this book for years. It is catchy without being cutsie and the illustrations are bright and colorful. Ours is wearing out, I'm glad to see that I can replace it when need be. This would be a terrific addition to any family's library.

My son was sufficiently drawn in to the rhythmic text that he actually learned to read at age 4 from this one. Considering that his sister learned to read from Dr. Seuss, I always loved that even this more sophisticated material could also show the way. It couldn't have hurt that I so thoroughly enjoyed reading it aloud.

About the Author

Andrew W. Wood is a professor in the Brain and Psychological Sciences Research Center at Swinburne University of Technology. Dr. Wood was recently a member of the radiation health committee of the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency and the secretary and registrar of the Australian Radiation Protection Accreditation Board. His research interests include the health effects associated with nonionizing radiation, cellular neuroscience, fluorescence microscopy, and mathematical modeling.
